| ABOUT ME... |
|
I was born Deaf and grew up using both language English and Auslan. Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is my preferred language as it is the language of the Deaf and I use it to communicate with my family and friends. I also lip-read and written English to live in the hearing world. I am an enthusiastic film-maker. I grew up watching films. My dad would take me to the cinemas and drive-ins. I was fascinated by the movies I saw and finally I got a video player when I was 13 years old. I watched many movies over and over again. I started making films at the age of 17. My first film was called The Visitor (1994) which was made for my Communication Project at school. Ever since I made several more films, The D Files: Whodunit? (2001/2004), When I Feel Bad... (2004) and Playmate to name a few. My first big project is probably The Sign (2004) which came 3rd in the Deaflympics Film Competition. I have entered another film competition for ABC2's Video Lives. Unfortunately my film, Video Lives: Flowerdale (2005) wasn't successful but that didn't stop me. I went out and made another major film called Pieces (2006) a comedy/family film for Deaf kids as well as their family. In my other spare time, I enjoy riding on rollercoasters, spending time with friends, and relaxing in the country. |
