Tuesday 3rd November 2009
Another day of Melbourne Cup. Hope your horse has won. Mine didn't. But who cares, right?
Anyway, it's only 3 more days until Friday 6th November. As you may know, it's the 30th year anniversary of Victoria Deaf Tenpin Bowling Club. I have been asked to do some filming work. You may wonder what is it, but I won't spill it. I won't spoil for anybody who are going to the special dinner night. I guess you will have to be there to see it.
If you are going, see you there then.
Cheers!
Monday 21st September 2009
What a hectic week it has been!
The film course went extremely well. It was a two-day weekend course of film making. I attended along with three other interested partipants. We learned so much, yet we know fairly a bit of film making, but we learnt so much more. Many thanks go to Sasha for making this happen, as well as Gavin, Mike, Carol and Kirsten. We made a 30-sec TV spot for the 1st Australian Deaf Film Festival. At the end of the course I was extremely exhausted but in a happy fulfilled spirit.
If there is any chance to have that course again, make sure whoever interested in film making, please make sure you attend as it is very worthwhile. Wait and see for more brilliant films coming up!!!!
Saturday 5th September 2009

It's rather a disaapointing news, but at the end it's still a good news. The filming course has been cancelled due to low attendances. Fortunately for us, they organised just one weekend, instead of just cancelling it altogether. Please, if you're interested, contact Sasha with her details below:

You will learn about the basics of filmmaking such as script writing, storyboards, filming (shooting) and editing.
Find out the different roles in the film crew and how they work together.
You will then have the opportunity to work in groups and use your knowledge to produce a short film.
These films will be screened at a Gala Premiere on Saturday 17 October 2009 as part of the National Week of Deaf People (NWDP) celebrations.

Saturday 29th August 2009
Short Films Bring People Together
I have applied for a short course run by No Longer By 8mm, organised by VicDeaf. The course runs through September:
Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th
Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th
Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th
I am very excited about this course and hope will learn something really valuable. Yes, you might say, oh you got some filming experience, but I've always wanted to learn more and I think the course will help me to develop more skills and knowledge in some specific area that I might be lacking. I am really looking forward to it.
Will keep you posted.

This is a very exciting news!!
We got a email from Kate (Channel 7). Have a read below:
Subject: First ever deaf contestant on new season of THE AMAZING RACE. Starts Thurs 23 July at 7.30pm on Seven.(Australia)
Hello
I'm contacting you from Channel Seven. I do publicity for six-time Emmy Award winning reality series THE AMAZING RACE.
The new season starts Thursday July 23 at 7.30pm and it features the Race's first ever deaf contestant, Luke Adams.
Luke, 23, has been deaf since the age of two. He is competing with his mother Margie who is his link to the hearing world. They use sign language to communicate.
Meet Luke and Margie here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVzdwR4XCYA
I'm hoping I can enlist your help to get word out to the Australian deaf community to tune in to this season of THE AMAZING RACE. Luke and Margie do exceptionally well in the Race and I know their accomplishments will be an inspiration to hearing impaired and non-hearing impaired people alike.
Once again, the new season of THE AMAZING RACE featuring Luke and Margie Adams starts Thursday July 23 at 7.30pm on Seven.
Regards,
Kate

Wednesday 4th March 2009
Thank you everyone for you comments on my house in Bushfire in Victoria 2009 page.
I have decided to put up my film, Video Lives: Flowerdale as a tribute to the country town, it's surrounding and nearby towns such as Kinglake and Kinglake West, and to the fire victims. The film will be on very soon, so keep an eye out for this special film made in 2005. It will be on for a limited time.
Monday 29th December 2008
Hope you all had a great Christmas filled with delicious food and plenty of fun and laughter! Now there are some re-runs of many shows during holidays. Sad for some, but to those who haven't seen my film, there's a chance you can still see it.
Re-runs of Pieces will be on Deaf TV on Monday 12th Jan 2009 (part one) and 19th Jan 2009 (part two).
Happy New Year!
Sunday 30th November 2008
I can't believe Christmas is around the corner and is ready to pop again. It's like deja vu. Same things all over again. Decorate your home with Christmas stuff. Bring out the old dusty Christmas tree and put it up with lights. You compete with your neighbours with the most lights on the street. Families gatherings and swapping of presents or Kris Kringle. Crowded shoppers and stealing car parks. It just doesn't end there. Once it's all over, and it's Christmas around the corner all over again in just a year. What is the point of it all? Of course it is the only one - Jesus. He is the centre of it all, and we must stop and remember the special birth of Jesus.
I am currently working on three projects at the moment. One is to complete the Deaf Netball Victoria: Celebrating 50 years DVD, and one is to complete Who Killed the Interpreter? DVD, and the other one is to re-write a story of a very new film. I have been jungling all three of them, so you will be updated once one of the projects have completed, most likely to be in 2009.
Merry Christmas to you all!
Sunday 9th November 2008
What a night! Deaf Netball Victoria held its special 50th year celebtraion night on Saturday 8th of November. It was a night to remember. So many former players and current players came and had a fantastic night. We saw many people who we haven't seen for ages meet up again, and I am sure those people will keep in touch with each other from now on. It seems everyone enjoyed themselves very much and I applaused the committees and members of Deaf Netball Victoria for a wonderful and successful night.
The films showed on that night will be on DVD and it will be up for sale sometime soon toward the end of this year. Thank you to all who supported the film by bringing their old photos and films. There's more to come! If you or someone you know has some great photos and films that should be included in DVD, please feel free to contact me through email - moviegirl11@hotmail.com
Well done to everyone for a very special night that won't be easily forgotten.
Tuesday 28th October 2008
It is an exciting time for all of us, especially for women who was involved in Deaf Netball Victoria to celebrate our 50th year. Deaf Netball Victoria: Celebrating 50 years - a documentary film is well on its way to the screening on 8th November 2008. Interview with the players, old films and photos worth over 45 minutes will be shown on that night. A full version will be made onto DVD later this year. Make sure you get a preview of it on 8th of November!!
Monday 22nd September 2008
I am now working on a documentary film called Deaf Netball Victoria: Celebrating 50 years for a very special event on November 8th. This is a very exciting project as we look back in history of how the Deaf Netball Victoria actually started. Stay tuned for this special film.
Thursday 11th September 2008
I am currently working on two film projects in the Deaf community in October and November. My next film which I am currently writing has to hold off for a while and will resume in the middle of November. I had a good chat with one lady regarding my films and my work. She is very keen to have more Deaf films for Deaf children so my next film will be just that. A fun and exciting film for Deaf kids.
Wednesday 21st August 2008
The wrap party for the film, Who Killed the Interpreter? was a successful night. All of the cast came and saw the film for the very first time and had many valuable feedbacks. Some part of the film will be edited and fixed up before being finalised. Thank you all who came and support the film.
I am currently on my way to make another film. I am currently writing the script and making plans. It will be a film for Deaf kids, similar to Pieces. So keep your eyes out for this one!
Wednesday 23rd July 2008
Who Killed the Interpreter? is finally completed!
We, the cast and the crew, will be having a very special wrap party on Saturday 26th July to see the film and to celebrate, as well as thanking them for all their hard work. After the wrap party the film may be edited and fixed before finally release to the public for viewing.
Sunday 13th July 2008
Who Killed the Interpreter? is still in post-production. One little scene are needed to be added so will film it on the weekend of 19th/20th July to make the story a little more sense. Overall, the film looks great.
I am currently reading a book on digital video making and it is very good. I certainly hope to make more films in the near future as the book really motivated me to make more. There's a couple of stories I am hoping to turn it into film so stay tuned!
Sunday 15th June 2008

EXCITING DEAF PROGRAM ON CHANNEL 31!!!
The SignPost Team is proud to present ‘SignPost extra’. This new one hour
format will present the best of overseas productions made of, by and for Deaf
people. We are pleased that first program showcases a documentary from
over the Tasman.
Sign of the Times is the first feature length documentary about the Deaf New
Zealanders who fought to have their language recognised as a real language
and as a viable means of communication.
In April 2006 New Zealand Parliament declared New Zealand Sign Language
(NZSL) to be an official language – the culmination of a 20 year battle by the
Deaf community, and a true hallmark in the recognition of their native
language.
The program will be broadcast on Channel 31 (City metropolitan areas only). People in the chosen metropolitan areas are able to
watch the program and you must tune your TV set to channel 31. Not all
areas can access it, so check your local Channel 31 website for more
information on whether it’s accessible in your area.
